全ページオールカラー。人間と機械文明との関わり方を、それぞれ異なる時代と状況に託して綴る全四話のオムニバスドラマ。一話（上巻）勇者達の帰還のんきな消防士エディ・リッケンバッカーは幼い頃、父の操縦する複葉機の支柱に括りつけられて、大空から落下する曲芸飛行に付き合わされていた。二話（上巻）孤児達の玩具大戦で片足を失ったリチャード。その友、アルバートは撃墜王として戦地でその名を馳せる。ふたりの旧友の心を結びつけているのは、故郷バーミンガムでの湖畔を走るモーターサイクルレースだった。
