An Account of The Kingdom of Nepal; And of the Territories Annexed to this Dominion by the House of Gorkha

Unfortunately this title is no longer available

Mist veils the Himalayan foothills as distant temple bells echo across the valleys, while the formidable House of Gorkha presses ever outward, reshaping the very map of South Asia. In the early nineteenth century, the world beyond Nepal's borders was largely unknown to outsiders, yet here unfolds a meticulous account of a kingdom in flux-its geography, customs, and the dramatic territorial expansion that would define an era. Drawing from direct observation and careful inquiry during a pivotal moment in British colonial history, this work offers an unparalleled glimpse into the intricacies of Nepalese territories, the political ambitions of the Gorkha kingdom, and the rich tapestry of Nepal's cultural life. Every page immerses the reader in the landscapes, rituals, and shifting alliances that shaped the region's identity, making it an essential document for those fascinated by South Asian history and the subtle interplay of power, tradition, and geography. The narrative's precision and depth set it apart, capturing not just the external features of the land but the very pulse of its people-how they lived, governed, and saw themselves amid the encroachments and opportunities of a changing world. For historians, collectors, and anyone drawn to the stories of Asian kingdoms or the complexities of Nepal political history, this is a work that resonates with authenticity and enduring significance.
