Newtide was firstly launched in 1975 as a monthly fashion & lifestyle chinese magazine. 创刊于 1975 年的《新潮》，是一本以时尚女性为主的月刊。《新潮》诞生的那个年代，大部分的女性还未有挣扎于事业与锅碗瓢盆孰轻孰重边缘的矛盾，当时尚的确认出现了全新的指引媒介，惯有的想法碰上了冲击，平地一声雷，冰山底层的自主意识蠢蠢欲动，鼓动自省的语言在文字和图像的结合之下如浪潮般传递。由《新潮》所发起及主办的《新潮小姐》选美竞赛更发掘出许多名人，其中以国际影星杨紫琼及刘德华的太太朱丽倩更是热门话题的《新潮小姐》得将者。
